Padme Amidala - Blue Robe

Dahlia has long been a fan of Padme and her gorgeous costumes, but it wasn't until after seeing Episode III that she decided it was high-time to pay homage to the Space Queen. She settled on this design because she wanted something fairly simple for Starfest, Colorado's local sci-fi/fantasy convention. 

The robe is made of purple "poodle knit" which was found at Joann's and the sleeves are lined with the same material. The gold trim on the sleeves took many trips to different fabric stores before Dahlia found something suitable. It's not entirely accurate, but it still compliments the robe nicely. The beading was all done by hand and was easily the most time-consuming component of the costume--Dahlia actually re-did many of the tassels with new beads because she displeased with her original purchase. 

The underdress was made with white satin with a purple lace overlay. The wig was purchased on Cosplay.com and styled by Dahlia and the headpiece was cut from Fun Foam and spray painted silver (Dahlia was not pleased with how it turned out.) Because of time constraints, she decided to forego the pregnancy belly, but promises to make one with her next Episode III costume.
