Asellus - Saga Frontier

Cosplaying Asellus has long been a dream of Dahlia's, but she refused to even consider the idea until she had a White Rose at her side. So, when Lilacwire offered to take the part, Dahlia was ecstatic. Originally, she planned on doing the game sprite version which featured Asellus in a red get-up, but later decided to do the more popular, pastel-y artbook version to better compliment Lilacwire's White Rose.

The most difficult part of this costume involved the patterning of the costume, a majority of which had to be done by hand. Once that hurdle was overcome, the rest of the costume seemed to flow together rather naturally. For materials, she used a combination of "fancy" fabrics including satin and chiffon, the trims were velvet ribbon, and the lace was bridal lace (on sale, thankfully.)

The "hardware" of the costume presented an interesting challenge, namely the front closure on the jacket and the belt. For the jacket closure, Dahlia wound up using a spray-painted belt buckled that she epoxyed to a couple of bridal pins. The belt was made of ribbon that was a surprisingly lucky find and more spray-painted buckles.
