Eiko is completely hand-patterned from top to
bottom. The most difficult piece to hand-pattern was the jumper,
as it needed to hang and fit in very specific ways. It was
interesting trying to fit the leg pieces, because they need to slant one
direction around the front of the legs, but have a piece on the back of
the legs that connects through the inner leg. If you can catch
that.
The sleeves on the shirt were also very tricky, but enjoyable.
Eiko's sleeves are very tight up top, but near her hands they overlap
and look like they go from extremely baggy to gloves. To solve
this problem, Lilacwire stitched her own gloves and separate sleeves,
then attached them where the sleeves overlapped, making them very easy
to hide. On the upper arms, she gathered and overlapped quite a
bit of fabric to make the fabric "twist" around her arms.
The wings are handcrafted out of turkey & maribou feathers,
chicken wire, and batting, and are sewn directly to the shirt for added
stability. The horn is made of paperclay, and attached to the wig
using a screw and some fun foam.
The weapon is a copper ladle covered in some really cute fur.
It's stuffed appropriately to add shape, and sewn by hand.
