Relm's costume was inspired by Beverly, who had expressed interest in doing an Amano Final Fantasy 6 group.  Mnemosyne was on board as Celes, so Lilacwire quickly jumped in because Relm's outfit was cute and artistic and she liked the idea of trying out something different.

Relm was built over the course of several months using different fabrics that matched the Amano art, but also had "personality."  Lilacwire didn't want to fall into the problem of making an Amano costume that was too bright or bead-intensive.  Most fabrics Lilacwire used were of simple origin - cottons, linens, though the cape was made from sari fabric.

Lilacwire wanted lots of the color and unique spirit to come from the accessories that Relm carries, such as her belt, which involved fringes, decorator fabrics, feathers, and a bead string sewn into all of that.  The hat, which is hand-painted, follows a similar method, as do the boots.  Nothing in the costume was meant to "shine" above any other one thing.

The brush/weapon was made by Jem, who used a mixture of dowel rod, paperclay, styrofoam, and old wig hair from his Amarant costume.  He embedded amythest rocks into the handle of the brush to give it a sparkly quality, and painted the rest of it to match the Relm costume colors.
